Thulile Zama is a South African singer based in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. She is the renowned lead vocalist of Heels Over Head, an all-female contemporary jazz band. The band was nominated for the South African Music Awards in 2011 and won the prestigious Yamaha Young Artist award in 2010.
Together with Pianist David Smith, Thuli formed the musical duo N’den. In the last few years, the duet has been composing original music and covers of some of their favorite artists for their social media and youtube channel. In June 2023 they released their first album titled "Sisingathiwe" which is available on all digital platforms.
Titled "Tribute to Mama Africa," the concert is a compilation of Sophiatown’s (a township in Johannesburg) finest music, featuring songs made famous by Miriam Makeba during and post-apartheid. The repertoire evokes emotions that collectively paint a vivid portrait of South Africa’s rich musical heritage.
Tribute to Mama Africa has toured theaters and live music venues nationally and internationally. Performances have taken place at renowned venues such as the State Theatre in Pretoria, Hilton Arts Festival, POP Art in Johannesburg, Rhumbelow Theatre in Durban, Pietermaritzburg and Kloof, Alliance Française of Durban, and the Franco Mozambican Cultural Centre in Maputo.
