Bossame consists of musicians from jazz, classical, and pop backgrounds who have been inspired by the versatility and (hidden) virtuosity of Brazilian music. One person would drift away with the music of Caetano Veloso, Djavan, and Jobim, while another was captivated by Brazilian Choro during a visit to Rio de Janeiro. Yet another was enthralled by the pulsating grooves of Brazilian batucada during workshops in the Netherlands.This passion took such forms that several band members even took lessons in Brazil itself. Combine this enthusiasm, and you get Bossame, derived from the word “Bossa,” which means ‘style’ or ‘form.’ The initial lineup formed in 2007 when two neighbors started making music together and, out of curiosity, invited more enthusiasts of this genre to join. The current lineup consists of 7 band members, most of whom have received further training in Brazilian music at EPM Holanda, the choro school in Rotterdam. Choro is the foundation of many styles, such as samba, bossa nova, and also MPB (Música Popular Brasileira). Bossame brings all of these styles to the stage, where you can listen to them with a delightful drink or dance exuberantly. In August 2023, Bossame released their first EP, “Com Licença,” on various streaming music platforms.
